| THE
GAMBA ACTION GROUP – GAG (NT).
Aims
of the Gamba Action Group.
GAG (NT)’s
initial aim is to educate people about the serious impact Gamba Grass
is having on our environment and the unprecedented degradation to
the environment that will occur if this invasion is not halted as
soon as possible. This is essential to prevent the further spread
of Gamba throughout the Northern Territory, as well as west into the
Kimberley, and eastward to Queensland.
Other aims of the group are to: |
|
• Provide information
on Grass grass, including how to identifying it, the most cost effective
means of control, and how to stop its spread into areas that are currently
Gamba free.
• Help coordinate effective weed control efforts between government
agencies, local councils, interested NGO’s and the wider community.
• Lobby politicians to have Gamba Grass declared as a noxious weed.
• Develop a centralised map of the distribution of Gamba in the
NT.
